In July 2023 I hosted the 5th Poole Baby Event at the Dolphin Centre in Poole. As usual, it was a fantastic day with lots of amazing local baby related businesses getting together to put on a display of their products and services and holding taster classes and talks throughout the day. The event was free to attend and the first 50 attending received a free goody bag which had amazing treats from Organix, Hot Tea Mama, Pregnacare and more! Sarah from Little Leaps Sensory & Sign provided a baby play corner which everyone loved. We held a tombola style raffle for SPRING Support and rasied over £65. Taster sessionsThroughout the day we had taster sessions from some of the amazing local businesses that attended including breastfeeding advise, hypnobirthing, baby massage and more. Save the date we are back in November! We all love putting on these events so much that we are pleased to announce that we are back again in a few months time! Disclaimer : These are not professional photos they are just a collection of some of the photos that we all took on the day on our phones. I did not take my camera along to the event this time.

Summer is here and it won't be long until the children are off school. Our summer holiday is 7 weeks this year! I love summer, we have lots of family days out and we live in such a great place who needs to go on holiday! Maybe you are lucky enough to be going away or you have other plans, but 6-7 weeks is a long time to fill and the holidays can be expensive. I have put together a big list of activities and events that are FREE for families in the Dorset area this summer. Summer reading challengeThe summer reading challenge is hosted by local libraries and encourages children to read books across the school holidays. When they sign up they get given a folder and they can set a goal of how many books they would like to read over the summer. Along the way they can collect rewards and depending on location they may receive a medal for completing the challenge. You can read more or sign up online here: Summer Reading Challenge Pop up PlaygroundsPoole Museum is now On The Move! As part of their redevelopment plan, the museum is going out into the community to bring the museum closer to you. Thanks to their Creatives in the Community funding, we are delighted to be creating Pop Up Playgrounds for 0-99 year olds to experience a playground like no other! Warning! We are not your average stay & play. We celebrate the power of play; when people play with Big Blue Play all sorts of magic occurs. Play is a process. There isn’t a thing to make, instructions to follow, or something to take home at the end of a session (except memories and endorphins). Children’s brains evolve when they play freely without instructions from an adult. These sessions are the ideal solution to capture the next milestone in your babies journey at a super special price How are these sessions different to a regular studio photography session?
What shall I dress my baby in? You are welcome to use any of the beautiful outfits that I have in my studio or you can bring a favourite outfit. I would recommend bringing the outfit with you rather than dressing your baby in it before you leave the house. There will be time for you to get your baby changed when you arrive. We can use some of my beautiful props and layers or a little crate for your baby to sit in if you would like to. When do the sessions take place? The next date for my little sessions is 10th October 2023. Sessions take place between 9am-12pm. Only 5 spaces are available. How do I book a session?
Please contact me to book your space at my next sitter day. A £50 deposit secures your space and chosen time, with the remaining payment due on the day of your session. I often get asked what to bring or how to prepare for your newborn photography session with me here in my beautiful studio in Poole, Dorset. The short answer is that you do not to bring anything or prepare in anyway. Having a baby is the most amazing time of your life but it can be very hard to adjust to in the early days so I do not want to add in any extra stress of you feeling that you need to prepare for your newborn photography session! What should we bring to our newborn photography session? You do not need to bring anything extra to your newborn photography session. However, if you would like to bring along anything personal to include in the photographs then please feel free to do so, but please do not feel that you have to as I have everything that we will need here. You just need to bring your normal change bag with plenty of spare nappies and milk if you are bottle feeding. What should we wear to our newborn photography session?Again, this is completely up to you. If you would like some photos of yourselves with your baby you might want to bring something to get changed into. This really depends on how you would like the photos to look. There is no need to get changed unless you would like a more formal / posed photo. If you would like a photo of your baby without an outfit/wrap on then I would suggest that you bring a change of clothes for yourself as there is always the small possibility that you might get a little wet! How should I prepare before our newborn photography session? You will have looked at my portfolio before booking your newborn photography session with me you will know the type of images to expect when you visit the studio. If you have any particular props/colours that you would like to use I will ask you when you arrive. If you have not had chance to decide I can show you my beautiful collection of props, wraps and outfits and you can choose when you are here so please do not worry. My images all follow the same natural, neutral style so I do find that most people are happy for me to choose what to use but please do let me know if you have any preferences. Do I need to make sure that baby is fed and asleep for the newborn photography session? There is no need to make sure that your baby is asleep for the photography session. It is always a good idea to feed your baby before you leave home in the morning so that you can be happy they will be content in the car journey here but please do not worry if you arrive and they need a feed. We have up to 3 hours of time together and we stop for feeds and cuddles whenever is needed. Your baby will never be expected to work to "my schedule", I always work around them. If you have any more questions about a newborn photography session you might like to read my newborn photography FAQs page.
Or please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you as I love talking to clients before their newborn shoot. The weather is gorgeous at the moment and I am getting excited about exploring and making more memories with the children over the holidays. My absolute favourite photo art product is this gorgeous range of bamboo photo blocks. I have some samples on display in my studio and they always get noticed when people walk in. Everyone loves how unique they are. I wanted to use this opportunity to tell you a little bit more about them and why they are my favourite piece of wall art. Bamboo Photo Blocks Overview Bamboo photo blocks blend seamlessly with all home decor styles with its natural exposed edges and seamless edge-to-edge printing. Particularly well paired with nautical and bohemian interiors, the neutral design of our bamboo photo blocks makes them perfect for every type of image. Your image will be printed onto a fine art lustre print which is then dry-mounted directly onto the bamboo block, offering stunning results every time. This beautifully layered textured bamboo block is eco-friendly and will be sure to make a statement piece in your home. Bamboo Keyhole Hanging system Bamboo photo blocks arrive with a routed keyhole cut out in the back for wall hanging. Each keyhole mount is individually precision routed, creating a sleek design and providing a practical way to display your high-quality photographs. This means you can hang your masterpiece simply and effortlessly as soon as it arrives. The bamboo wooden block will then sit completely flush against the wall and larger bamboo panels will have two symmetrical keyhole fixings for extra stability. Print Quality Bamboo panels are produced using professional lustre prints, offering the best colours for optimum vibrancy and impact using market-leading, large format fine art printers. This print is then sealed to your bespoke bamboo photo block using a professional sand textured laminate; giving your print a slight surface sheen with added protection. Round Bamboo Photo Blocks In addition to the standard square, landscape and portrait orientations, you can soften your print by opting for my personal favourite, a completely circular finish with our round bamboo photo prints. Perfect for a subtle contrast against the wall, these round bamboo panels add a completely unique modern twist on your image with a smooth circular edge. Bamboo is by far one of the most sustainable materials on the market. Since it grows so quickly without ever needing to be replanted, bamboo provides an incredibly eco-friendly solution display your photographs. When you order your bamboo photo block, you can have the peace of mind that all of the materials we use are ethically sourced. The bamboo wood used is organically grown, FSC certified, and completely renewable. Ready to order?

Poole Baby Event July 2023 | Facebook Quite often I speak to parents who have just missed the "newborn" stage for a photography session. This can be for many reasons, sometimes things do not quite go to plan and they are just not ready to go out to a photography session with their brand new baby at 1 week old, sometimes they have simply chosen to wait a little longer. I photograph babies between 6 weeks and 5 months old (pre sitting) in a very similar way to newborns here at my beautiful baby photography studio in Poole, Dorset. This beautiful little one was 6 weeks old when he came to see me recently. For this particular session, the parents opted for a "newborn" package so they could have a longer session and we got a beautiful selection of awake and sleepy images, much like we would for a younger newborn photography session. If your baby is still tiny and very young we always discuss your options before we book your session in so you can choose which type of session is right for you. If your baby is older, you will get slightly different images , you can see lots more examples on my website or you might like to read another recent blog post about a 4 month old baby photography session. At 6 weeks old baby's are usually a lot more alert and their eyes are open for longer during the day. We got the perfect combination of wide awake and sleepy photos during his session. If you would like to read more about my baby photography sessions there is lots more information on my website or you can contact me for a booking information pack.
So you have had your photography session and have some beautiful photographs to treasure. But what now? All of my sessions come with digital images and if you chose my middle or top package you will already have a beautiful box of prints to treasure, but what now? Have you printed any of your photographs yet? If not, did you know that I offer a stunning selection of wall art and books to display and show off your gorgeous memories? From stunning bamboo wall art to gorgeous photo books, I have a selection of beautiful products available for you to purchase at any time.
