 13 years!?! I think the hardest thing for me to believe is that I started my business when my youngest was 1 year old , and now I have a 14 and almost 17 year old! I am forever grateful to myself for doing it. Being self employed has meant I have been there for them growing up, every day I have been able to take and collect them from school, I have been able to go to every single parents evening/assembly/school meeting and for that I can only feel thankful. I am also super thankful to all of you too! If you are reading this I want to thank you for enabling me to successfully run my business after all this time. Even if you havent ever booked a photography session with me, your support means a lot, every single little interaction with my business helps it grow and succeed, so thank you truly. 2025 in review This time last year as I sat to write my reflections on 2024, I was having quite a bad time with my health. Despite that, I was feeling positive and set myself some goals for the year. My health was really bad last year still and amongst trying to come to terms with living with bad health I had a few more new health problems come up over the year too! Last year was a lot slower for me business wise than it has been so I have been working on working less rather than more (which has taken me the best part of 2 years to get on board with) but despite that I still managed to achieve my goals for the year, and December was incredibly busy work wise for me, to the point it was too much so this year I am working LESS in December for sure! 2025 wins My biggest goal for 2025 (which I have also had on my wish list for many years in the past too!) was to photograph a birth. Well I ALMOST did it and what I got to do was even better, so I have totally satisfied my itch on that one! Read about how I missed photographing the birth and arrived just in time to help deliver the baby instead : The birth that I was supposed to photograph In the summer I managed to get my GOLD plastic free business award. You can read more about my plastic free journey on my plastic free statement here: Plastic Free Statement I hosted 2 baby events last year, in the Dolphin Centre in Poole, and they were both hugely successful. To date these events have now raised over £1200 for Spring support who are a charity based in Poole hospital who support families who have sadly lost their baby. 2026 plansI am planning to take things a lot slower this year, and definitely have a much quieter December. I have still set myself a few goals for the year to keep me motivated. Firstly I would like to get some new headshots, as I do love mine but it is coming up to 5 years old now! Where on earth does time go?! I also turn 40 this year so I have a lot of non business things I would like to do too. 8 years ago I started a 40 before 40 list and I only have 5 things left! I have decided to give myself an extra 2 years with that now due to my health and covid taking 2 years from us all. Even though I have achieved my Gold plastic free award , I am not ready to stop there. So I am continuing raising awareness and funds for Surfers against sewage by running 47 miles in February (I can't run by the way so this is a huge thing for me!)
