Newborn Photography FAQ's
If you have been thinking about booking a newborn photography session with me, you probably have some questions about how and when to book in, what happens before, during and after your session, and a possibly more. I have created this page of frequently asked questions to help you, but if you have any other questions that I have not covered please do not hesitate to get in touch. I always love to talk to clients about their photography sessions before they book in.
These questions mainly apply to newborn photography sessions where you come to me, if you are interested in me coming to you for a Fresh 48 newborn lifestyle photography session, most of these won't apply, but you can find out more about newborn lifestyle photography in a blog post here.

How much is a newborn photography session , and what is included?
> You can find all of my pricing information on my newborn pricing page, all of my packages include the photography session and some photographs so there is no need to pay any extra on top of the package prices.
When should I book in my newborn photography session?
> It is always best to book in as soon as you can after your 20 week scan. Due to the unpredictability of when babies arrive, I can only take a few bookings per due month. 'Booking in' whilst pregnant reserves time around your due date. and when your little one arrives we arrange a mutually convenient date, which is usually around day 7 (depending on how you both are)
My baby is already here, is it too late to book in a newborn photography session?
> Due to the flexible nature of my business, this occasionally leads to some last minute availability. So please do get in touch asap to see what spaces I have available. Newborn sessions can take place up to 4 weeks, but if you baby is older, a baby photography session is a good alternative, so please don't worry I will never turn you away because your baby is "too old". Please check out my baby photography section here.
Can I choose which photographs/ set ups I would like to use at my newborn photography session?
> Absolutely. I have a large collection of beautiful props, wraps and outfits to choose from when you visit my studio for your newborn photography session. Please do bear in mind that all my newborn photography sessions are totally baby led so I can't guarantee any particular "poses" , every baby is completely unique, and some don't like going in certain positions. My job is to guide your baby into poses that they naturally feel comfortable in. You can read more about my natural newborn posing here.
What day / time will my newborn photography session take place?
> Ideally your newborn photography session will take place when your baby is around 7 days old, but this depends on how you both are so it can be up to 2-3 weeks. Please consider my working hours when you book in. I only photograph newborns during the week, during school hours. Weekends are reserved for family photography sessions, and spending time with my own family. Due to using natural light I also need to be specific about the time of your session and unfortunately there is no flexibility here. During the summer I start newborn sessions at 930am. Please do not worry if you are a little late for your session as I allocate you 3 hours. This allows plenty of time for cuddles and feeds, we do not spend 3 hours taking photographs! Most sessions are around 2 hours, but please do not worry if you are here longer, it all depends how you baby is on the day.
Should I bring anything with me to our newborn photography session?
> I have everything you should need here, apart from your usual changing bag items, although I do have emergency nappies should you need any! If you have any thing specific you would like to include in the photographs then please do bring them along. Please check with me first about large items though. If you would like parent photos where baby is completely nude, you may wish to bring some spare clothes for yourselves, as accidents can and have happened in the past! Please don't worry though, it is usually me who gets peed or pooped on , and I honestly don't mind one tiny bit, it is part of the job!
Can I bring my other child(ren) to our newborn photography session?
> Yes, it is possible to include a sibling photograph in your newborn photography session. Please bear in mind that my newborn photography sessions take place during school hours, so it depends how old your other children are.
Can we have parent and baby photographs during our newborn photography session, or will the photographs just be of the baby?
> Yes you absolutely can. If you are not sure, you can always let me know on the day, depending on how you are feeling.
Do I need to come back to view and select my images?
> No. This is done via a private online gallery. This gives you time to choose your favourites, without any pressure or hard sell. You can also share your gallery with other family members should you wish.
How long does it take to get my photographs after my newborn photography session?
> Your online gallery will be available within 4 weeks of your photography session. This will stay active for 4 weeks. Once you have chosen your favourite images, please allow 4 weeks for your prints and USB to arrive, or 7 days if you have chosen the email only package.
