An outdoor family photography session in Dorset is the perfect way to capture your growing family and make memories that you will all treasure for many years to come. Photographs become more valuable over time and you will never regret having a photography session with your family, but you may well regret not having one. Natural, outdoor family photography in DorsetWe are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. Dorset has everything, from some of the worlds most beautiful beaches to acres of forests, and not a motorway in sight! This is why I only offer outdoor family photography. The scenery is absolutely stunning around here, why not make the most of it. Before your family photography sessionWhen you book in we will decide a location together, this could a memorable place for you or I can share my favourite locations with you to chose from. You can choose to involve the extended family, just immediate family, or even just the kids. The choice is yours, it is your session. I will help guide you to get the most from your session. What you choose to wear is of course also down to you also, but I am happy to guide you if you wish. I will be in touch the day before your session, as I am sure you are all aware that the climate is very unpredictable in this country, so there is a always a chance we may have to re arrange due to bad weather. If you are booking a summer photography session the ideal time is either first thing in the morning or 2 hours before sunset (the golden hour) we will discuss times when you get in touch to book in. During the cooler months, we can usually do the middle of the day/late morning/early afternoon. During your family photography sessionDepending on the package you choose, we get either 30 minutes or 1 hour together. I will take you to a few different spots to take some photos. The session is relaxed and fun for everyone. The children are free to run around and I can chase after them, if they are not keen on sitting down with you please do not worry. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to get the kids involved which results in a beautiful selection of gorgeous natural images to choose from. After your family photography sessionYou get to go away with memories of lovely family time on the beach or other beautiful location whilst you wait for your photos. Your images are presented in an online gallery for you to choose your favourites. Then you will receive your images via email or in the post (depending on the package you have chosen) and you get to treasure them forever. No matter what the age(s) of your child(ren) an outdoor family photography session will provide beautiful memories for you to treasure and share with your friends and family.
If you would like to find out more you can visit my family photography area of my website or contact me and I would love to send you a booking information pack. Is your baby turning one soon? I bet you are wondering where their first year has gone. They may have learnt to sit up, feed themselves, crawl, and may have even taken their first few steps or you have heard their first few words. What a year, and you will never have another one like it. Have you thought about the perfect way to celebrate their first birthday? Most people choose a special day out or something fun to do rather than a party now. Party's are great fun but although they won't remember this special occasion, you will, and you will want to create some memories for you to look back on with them. What better way than a cake smash photography session! You get to sit and watch the fun and you get to keep the beautiful photographs as memories for years to come. The eco friendly cake smashThe chances are your baby will not demolish the entire cake, it may even be their first taste of cake! This means there is a lot of untouched fresh cake leftover. I hate waste, so I wrap it up to take home with you to enjoy later on! My set ups consist of natural, mostly homemade washable decorations. A lot of my decorations including the beautiful rag bunting featured in this session are even made from upcycled materials. I do not use balloons, streamers or other disposable decorations so there is absolutely no plastic waste from a cake smash session with me. You also get a beautiful engraved wooden spoon to take home and re use or save as a special memory of their first birthday. Cake Smash PropsI have an ever growing collection of beautiful, natural cake smash props for you including a selection of outfits. The neutral decorations means that your beautiful baby will be the pure focus of every image that I take. Splash time!Your session can also include bath tub time which is an extra cute way to get your baby clean after the cake smashing fun and creates even more gorgeous photographs for you to treasure. I am not sure who has the most fun at cake smash sessions, your baby, yourself, or me! You can choose to have a cake smash session either on or around your baby's first birthday, or a few weeks beforehand so that you will have the photos back in time for their birthday. The choice is yours.
It is never to early to book so please get in touch for an information pack today, I would love to hear from you to help you celebrate your baby's first birthday. The FREE event which was sponsored by Cadbury Physiotherapy brought together many of the areas leading baby related businesses and provided a full schedule of taster classes, talks and demos. We had lots of amazing local maternity and baby related businesses join us on the day to offer advice on local services. We had baby massage and sensory & sign taster classes. Talks on breastfeeding, antenatal advice and more. Biscuits by Sarah B held a FREE biscuit decorating class at the end of the day and throughout the day anyone was able to drop in a decorate their own biscuit at her stand. We held a huge tombola style raffle and raised £180 for SPRING support who support families who have sadly lost their baby. We all had such a great time that we have decided to make the event a regular thing and the next one will be 30th April 2023 from 11am-3pm at Poole Dolphin Centre. We would love to see you there. Thank you to Carly from C Y Wild Photography for the awesome photos. It was lovely that I was able to be in some of the photos for a change.
Last month I celebrated 10 years in business with a party! I invited the lovely Sarah from Little Leaps Sensory & Sign into the studio and gave away places at the party. We started off with a fun sensory and sign class followed by a mini photoshoot for each baby and of course hot drinks, cake and goody bags! The babies had a great time and I absolutely loved watching them enjoy party! Sarah was great at keeping the babies interacting with the class it was an absolute joy to watch. After the class, I photographed all of the babies and everyone enjoyed tea and cake. All of the babies who attended received the photos that I took as a gift. I would like to say a huge thank you to Sarah from Little Leaps Sensory and Sign and to all of the Mum's who brought their babies to the party to help me celebrate my 10th business birthday. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.
Recently I welcomed this beautiful little girl into my baby photography studio in Poole, Dorset with her family for her 4 month photography session. I photograph so many older newborns here, some families are not ready to bring their tiny brand new bundle to me at a few days/weeks old, and some just prefer to wait. What ever the reason, I love photographing older babies as much as brand new ones. Baby sessions are very similar to newborn sessions, I have similar set ups , and larger baskets and outfits. The main difference is that your baby is likely to be wide awake for their entire session with me. We usually get some smiles too. This gorgeous little one was full of smiles when she came to see me. She was an absolute joy to photograph. I offer baby sessions, in a similar style to newborns, for babies between 6 weeks and 4 months. The difference between a 6 week old and a 5 month old is huge. The younger babies will still be sleepy and might still like being wrapped up, where as the older ones are usually able to prop them selves up on their tummy and are smiling and laughing. Most families bring in their own outfits for baby photography sessions, but I also have some beautiful ones here that you can choose from, and we usually do some of photos using just wraps. Older siblings are most welcome to baby photography sessions , and we can include family and or sibling photos during your session with me. You can find more information on my baby photography sessions here.
Or please contact me for a booking information pack. 10 years! I have been doing what I love for the past decade! Good luck if you are entering the competition. Last month I visited ClickASnap brand new free to use darkroom with my best friend Carly who I went to college with. We met during our A Level photography course, taking and developing our own films which is where my love for photography was born. Over the past 15 years photography has changed dramatically but I have so missed that sheer feeling of joy when you make and develop your own prints. The smell is something that you will never forget! When I saw that a community darkroom was opening in Wimborne I had to go visit. It was everything I had thought it would be and more, from picking up the Hasselblad camera (that I used to own) and clicking my first shot outside. It all came flooding back and I fell in love with film all over again. We were welcomed into the darkroom by Tom and his team who let us choose from the large range of cameras that they have available. I saw the Hasselblad which was the same model as I used to own back in my university days and had to have a play. We were given a roll of black and white film and off we went for a photo walk around Wimborne Minster. When we came back to the darkroom we developed the film by hand threading it onto the spool and putting the tank into the developing machine which we added the chemicals too. After the negatives had developed , they were dried and Tom scanned them in for us to come back at a later date and make some prints. My second darkroom visitI went back to the darkroom with my 13 year old son soon as he really wanted to have a go. He has always had a keen interest in photography since I gave him my old DSLR a few years ago. He chose a camera that was similar to the digital one that he uses , rather than the fully manual Hasselblad to start off with. He enjoyed walking all around Wimborne Minster and through the town to take his 36 shots, not knowing what any of them would come out like. Most children these days have never experienced this and we feel very lucky that he has been given the opportunity to do this. Then he came into the darkroom with me, where Tom gave us a brief reminder of how it works (it has been a VERY long time since I was in one!) I soon remembered everything though and then did it all my own way. My son made some prints himself too, using the negatives from the Hasselblad that I shot on my previous visit. We both loved it so much. Being reminded of why I got into photography in the first place is absolutely priceless. You cant put a price on this, and even if you could it was FREE! My son has created a You Tube video of the visit: We would like to thank Tom and the ClickASnap team so much for this amazing opportunity and we can't wait for our next visit soon. My son is very excited to be able to return and develop his film and make some of his very own prints.
When you are looking to book a newborn photographer it is always a good idea to look at examples of full sessions and not just their favourite hand picked images for their online portfolios. Whilst I hope that my website gives you a feel for my natural style and exactly what to expect, I always think it is nice to share an entire gallery so you get to see an example of everything you get not just my "favourite" images that I choose to share on social media and on my website portfolios. The reason that I have specifically decided to share this gorgeous newborn photography session with you is that they asked for a completely neutral, white session, which shows their baby in their natural beauty which is always what I do in my newborn sessions, even with the use of props. This gorgeous little one was just 4 days old when he came to see me in my newborn photography studio in Poole a couple of weeks ago. I had the privilege of photographing one of his older brothers as a newborn too. I always love it when families come back to me to capture their growing family. His brothers were both absolutely amazing during the session. After we had taken their photos, I was setting up for the next shot and I turned around to pick him up and they were all sat here like this! These natural moments are always some of my favourites. I really hope they do treasure these gorgeous photos as much as I would if these were my children. When you come to me for your newborn photography session you get full choice of my beautiful collection of props. This family chose my wooden heart, my "mini moses basket" and white wooden bowl to use during their session. As we are getting close to Christmas, we included a few photos in one of my cute little Christmas hats too. Being just 4 days old, he slept for pretty much his entire session. We did get to see his gorgeous little eyes open briefly, which I did manage to capture. Usually babies are around 7-10 days old, but if you are ready sooner you are most welcome to come in, likewise it does not matter if you need a bit longer as I photograph older newborns too. If you have missed the "newborn" stage I photograph babies up to 5 months in the studio in a similar way to newborns, they are just less sleepy, but sessions are equally beautiful. You can read more about my older newborn / baby photography sessions on my website also. If you are expecting a baby and would like to find out more about my natural newborn photography, you can visit the newborn area of my website, or you can drop me a message and I would love to send you a booking information pack.
Last weekend on 9th October 2022 I hosted our second baby event in Poole. The first one was 3 years ago, and we had planned a second one 6 months after, just before the event covid took over the world. About 3 months ago I thought it was finally time to give it another go; so we finally did, and it was worth the wait! The event brought together many of Dorset's leading antenatal and baby services and suppliers, and provided a full schedule of FREE taster classes, talks and demos, as well as offering FREE entry and amazing FREE goody bags to the families who attended. Lots of fantastic local businesses joined me on the day, which was kindly sponsored by Biscuits By Sarah B, including: Talking Babies, Nature Nurture Love, Hartbeeps, Bourne Green, Little Leaps Sensory and Sign, FAB Dorset, Little Fingers Big Feet, and Daisy First Aid Christchuch Bournemouth & Poole. Many of these put on FREE talks, demos and taster sessions. Little leaps sensory and sign along with Little fingers big feet set up a lovely little play area for the small visitors to enjoy and this was very well used throughout the day. Throughout the day, some of the FREE talks and classes we had included baby massage, a hypnobirthing taster, first aid, sling demos, breastfeeding and cloth nappy Q&A sessions, a hartbeeps taster session and even a free biscuit decorating class at the end of the day! We also had an amazing raffle with over 100 prizes and managed to raise £168 for SPRING support who support families through the loss of their baby. I had such a great day meeting so many lovely familes, everyone I spoke to loved it and really enjoyed spending time talking to the businesses there, getting lots of advice and having lots of fun. If you came along I hope you enjoed the event as much as we all did. We have decided to host this event again, hopefully in January 2023, so please keep an eye out for the next date! Disclaimer: Most of these photos were not taken by me. I ended up being so busy organising and talking to people to take many, so this is a compilation of the photos taken by others too.
