Why you should book your newborn photography session in whilst you are pregnant

Newborn photography sessions in my Poole studio take place when your baby is between 5 days and a few weeks old. Sessions are totally baby led and you will get a set of gorgeous natural photographs that you will treasure for many years to come.

When is the best time to book in your newborn photography session?

If you follow me or any other newborn photographers on social media, you may notice we are often advise "booking" in for your newborn photography session whilst you are pregnant, and ideally not waiting until your baby arrives to get in touch. 
It is always advisable to book in for your newborn photography session as soon as you can, anytime after your 12 week scan. The sooner you book in, the more likely you are to have the best chance of getting a space.

The benefits of booking your newborn photography session whilst you are still pregnant

I have a VERY limited amount of spaces available for newborn photography sessions.
When you book in early, not only will you secure your space but you will:

Have more time to plan details
Booking ahead allows time to think about and discuss:

• Preferred style
• Family and sibling photos
• Props, wraps, outfits, and colours

Be less stressed after delivery
The first couple of weeks with a newborn can be exhausting and unpredictable. Having your newborn photography session already arranged means one less thing to organize while recovering and adjusting. to life with your brand new baby.

How to book in your newborn photography session

But how do you "book"  in when we don't know when your baby is going to arrive?

When you book in, we pencil a date in the diary around 7 days after your due date. I understand that most babies do not arrive on their due date so this can easily be changed if necessary. I will be in touch nearer to that time to see how things are going.

As you can understand, I need to be quite flexible with my time, hence why I can only book in a VERY LIMITED amount of babies per month. 

What if my baby has already arrived, can I still book a newborn photography session in?

​Babies are often early or late, which sometimes leads to me having last minute spaces available, so I can occasionally accommodate clients who get in touch after their baby arrives. But I can not guarantee space, and I often have to say that I am unfortunately fully booked. If you baby is already a little older you can still book in, for older baby photography session.
